Jury Duty Phone Scam

LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) –

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of a phone scam related to jury duty.

The sheriff’s office says people claiming to be sheriff’s deputies are calling residents and saying they’ve missed jury duty. The caller then claims there’s a warrant out for your arrest and you must pay a fee with a cash card to clear the warrant.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind residents that they will never ask for payments over the phone and such payments are handled by the Circuit Clerk’s Office.
